Painterly Effervescence
Sea Surge
David Knight
Friday 8th May to 29 May 2026
The paintings in this exhibition focus heavily on the manipulation of paint. Whilst the Isle of Lewis coastal landscape is the subject matter it is the abstract behaviour, and interaction of paint itself, that acts as a metaphor for the coast.

Uinneag
Anns an taisbeanadh Uinneag, chithear obair còignear bana-ealain a tha a’ meòrachadh mu dhùthchas agus mu bheatha tro shealladh nan Gàidheal.
Is ann às diofar ceàrnaidh an Alba a tha an luchd-ealain agus tha iad air an obair chruthachail aca a thoirt am feabhas fo stiùir Màiri NicGilliosa aig Reòthart nan Ealan. Tha iad air am brosnachadh còmhla smaoineachadh mun lèirsinn aca agus mar a tha sin a’ tighinn beò.
Tha an uinneag mar shamhla do gach neach air an dòigh faicsinneach agus an t-àite dham buin iad.
Tha an còignear uile aig diofar ìre nam beatha cruthachail ach tha iad a’ tarraing air an aon ràmh mu fheallsanachd na h-obrach san taisbeanadh seo agus ga chur an cèill nan dòigh fhèin.
Uinneag (Window)
Uinneag presents work by five female artists from across Scotland, all of whom are inspired by place and the Gaelic way of seeing.
Brought together by Reothart nan Ealain's Màiri Gillies, they have continued to develop their own practices whilst exploring together, as a unique group, how they view and exist in the world.
Each of the artists have interpreted and expressed the theme of Uinneag (window) in their own way. All five are at various stages of their artistic journeys but have a common understanding and framework which underpins the development of work for this exhibition.
